Jihye Kim Korean to English Translation Collaborator

Jihye is a freelance dramaturg and a deviser based in LA and Seoul. Her interest and specialty lies in new play development, ensemble-devising, site-specific immersive works and literary translation (Korean to English). Her dramaturgy credits include the world premieres of Jung eun Hwang’s Termite in Desert with Seoul Metropolitan Theatre, Hwang’s Nosce, Jaerin Son’s devised piece This is NOT Shakespeare at Arko Art Center, Sujung Kim’s ensemble-creation Gongjoos: Publicly Owned Bodies, Egalia’s Daughters: A Satire of the Sexes with The New World Theatre Company, Jiyoung One’s site-specific immersive piece In and Out of the One: The Origin Story at Doosan Art Center, Jeein Song’s site-specific installation Disappearing Moments, Let’s Talk About it Tomorrow at Seoul Street Art Center, and Laura Jacqmin’s We’re Going To Be Fine at The Theatre School at DePaul. Currently, she is working on Chil Kong’s Finding Christmas at Adventure Theatre MTC and Hee-won Kim’s Sonata in the Manner of OCD and His Truth is Marching On. Jihye was a research dramaturg for Frances Ya-Chu Cowhig’s Snow In Midsummer and Cowhig’s upcoming project of The Death Defying Adventures of Frankie and Pete. In addition to her dramaturgy work, she enjoys teaching devising and solo performance workshop for non-professional performers.
